Chapter 11
5 Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem, and he built cities for defense in Judah. 6 He built Bethlehem, Etam, and Tekoa. 7 and Bethzur and Shocho and Adullam. 8 and Gath, Mareshah, and Ziph 9 and Adoraim and Lachish and Azekah 10 and Zorah and Aijalon and Hebron, which are in Judah and in Benjamin, cities of strongholds. 11 He strengthened the fortified places and put leaders and storehouses of food, oil, and wine in them. 12 In every city he had shields and spears, and he strengthened them greatly. Judah and Benjamin were his. 13 The priests and Levites throughout Israel rallied to him from all their places. 14 for the Levites had abandoned their pasturelands and their holdings and had come to Judah and to Jerusalem, for Jeroboam and his sons had cast them off from serving as priests to the LORD. 15 He appointed priests for the high places, for the goat-demons, and for the calves that he had made. 16 And after them, from all the tribes of Israel, those who gave their heart to seek the LORD God of Israel came to Jerusalem to sacrifice to the LORD God of their fathers. 17 They strengthened the kingdom of Judah and made Rehoboam son of Solomon strong for three years, for they walked in the way of David and Solomon for three years.
